67th PERF Meeting : EVOLVING INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS AND TECHNOLOGY OPPORTUNITIES
March 30-31 2005

This 67th PERF Meeting was hosted by BP (BP) at their facilities (Sunbury Business Park, Sunbury-upon-Thames) near London, UK.
About 30 people attended the meeting. Most of them were representatives from the oil industry. The board meeting was held on Tueday March 29th.

On Wednesday 30th Helen Orledge made a presentation on BP facility and policy and Dave Faschimpaur (BP) & Jill Kerr (ExxonMobil) gave an overview of PERF.
After that, the main session was dedicated to International Environmental Regulations and Technology Opportunities. Attendees were given excellent presentations by speakers from Oil Companies and Research centers. Normal PERF business items ( status reports and discussions) took place on the second day, right after the upstream and downstream discussion groups.

UPSTREAM DISCUSSION GROUP

The discussion group was led by Jill Kerr, Exxonmobil. The meeting was primarily a brainstorming session among the attendees about the research topics or points of interest or concern. No interesting conclusion were made from the discussion.

 

DOWNSTREAM DISCUSSION GROUP 

The Downstream Discussion Group was led by Dave Fashimpaur (BP).

 

STATUS REPORT:

2003-03: Managing wastes in countries with little infrastructure:To date Argonne has completed Phase I of the project. Project participants need to determine scope of Phase II.

2003-01: Mercury Cooperative: Contracts have been finalized and signed by participants. A Telecon will be scheduled soon to develop a project time line.

2002-13: water management cooperative: Contracts have been executed by all participants, and document sharing is anticipated in 2Q05, with a face-to-face meeting in conjunction with the summer PERF meeting

2002-02: Bioremediation sharing project: EPRIl will host our next meeting in Mountain View, CA in July 2005. Unocal and Aramco services will present their project deliverables. ExxonMobil and ChevronTexaco will review prior project deliverables and discuss path forward. A site visit of Unocal's phytoremediaton project is planned.

2001-02:Flashed Gas / VOC Emission Estimation from Produced Water

2000-01:Effective Methods and Lessons Learned for E&P Waste Treatment
